The international community must intervene to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, paving the way for the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, said the Palestine Liberation Organization"s (PLO) Executive Committee member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi on Tuesday. "Such effective intervention has become a necessity, given the dangerous Israeli escalation against us (Palestinians), and Israel must be subjected to historic accountability for the first time," Ashrawi said in a statement to the "Voice of Palestine" radio. She called on the international community to place Israel under legal monitoring for its crimes against the Palestinian people, and to follow up the implementation of the recommendations of the Goldstone Report on the last war waged by Israel in Gaza Strip. --MORE
