U.S. consumer spending rose 0.5 percent in November, a Commerce Department report showed on Wednesday. The rise was lower than the revised 0.6 percent rise in October, the Commerce Department said. Most economists had expected a 0.7 percent jump in spending amid the year end shopping season. The rise in household expenditures was led by goods spending which rose 1.4 percent, the data showed. The report also said personal incomes grew 0.4 percent in November from 0.3 percent the month before while income meant to be spent was unchanged at 0.5 percent. The U.S. economy grew at a 2.2 percent pace in the third quarter, according to revised government figures released Tuesday.
