A Paris court on Friday found Google guilty of copyright infringement for having digitized books without permission and fined the company 300,000 euros (432,000 dollars), according to dpa. The court ordered the US company to pay an additional 10,000 euros for each day the books or extracts taken from them remained in its database. The court also barred Google from continuing to digitise French books. It was not clear what effect this judgment would have on Google"s plans to create an enormous virtual library of all the world"s books. The complaint against Google had been brought by French publisher La Martiniere three years ago, with the support of the National Syndicate of French Editors.
