Libya"s official news agency says Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is working to heal the rift between Egypt and Algeria following the ill will over a World Cup qualifying match between the two nations, according to AP. JANA said Gadhafi discussed Tuesday by telephone with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the «means to heal the rift in relations between the two brotherly countries.» Mubarak thanked Gadhafi and appreciated his initiative, added the report without elaborating. It also said Arab League"s secretary general Amr Moussa urged Gadhafi on Monday to intervene. Egypt recalled its ambassador in Algiers after violence broke out over a pair of qualifying matches held in Cairo and Khartoum. Top officials from both countries have called for calm.
