Chancellor Angela Merkel"s government aims to present an energy plan for Germany by October next year, Reuters cited her as saying today. The centre-right government plans to extend the lives of Germany"s 17 nuclear plants, although a timeframe is unclear. She said her cabinet discussed energy at length at a meeting in Meseberg, north of Berlin. "We decided on ...an ambitious timetable so that by October next year we will deal with the questions of providing a sustainable energy supply for Germany that suits the economy and is environmentally friendly, and present the plans for that," she told a news conference after the cabinet meeting.
