A court of misdemeanours in Dubai is hearing a case involving the alleged abuse of the social networking site Facebook for unlawful acts, in what is believed to be the first such charge in the country, dpa quoted media reports as saying today. A Lebanese man reported to the police that his 26-year-old Syrian partner slandered him on Facebook. "He uploaded my photos and published slanderous and dishonourable comments underneath them on Facebook," the claimant told the police, the Gulf news daily reported. The Syrian partner admitted before the court on Tuesday that he uploaded four pictures on Facebook of the Lebanese claimant and posted under each of them a libellous comment. "I am guilty and I did defame him because he provoked me," the daily quoted the defendant as telling the court.
