The 23rd GCC Post officials meeting started here today in the Omani capital - Muscat with the participation of delegations from member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Oman Post"s deputy director-general Ahmed Salih Al Mewali, presided over the meeting that focused on a number of issues on the agenda including the previous recommendations and the efforts of the subcommittees in terms of benefits from enhancing postal services in the region. Speaking on the occasion, Majid Al Sharahan, The Director of the GCC General Secretariat's communication department said that the meeting will discuss the restructuring and development of philatelic exhibition in the GCC countries, research and development of Gulf Express services as well as the possibility of establishing a museum of stamps and postal equipment to be located in General Secretariat"s headquarters. On the sideline of the 23rd GCC Post officials meeting, a GCC postal exhibition was also opened , which involves all institutions and corporates of the GCC Philatelic associations and a large number of amateur and independent postal presses.
