Voters in a special election in Glasgow, Scotland have decided to stick with the governing Labour Party to represent it in Parliament, according to AP. Labour easily held the seat in Glasgow North East vacated by the resignation of the incumbent, former House of Commons Speaker Michael Martin. Labour"s candidate, Willie Bain, finished more than 8,000 votes ahead of the second-place candidate from the Scottish National Party in Thursday"s election. Although Glasgow North East has been a Labour Party stronghold, Prime Minister Gordon Brown"s party is lagging behind the opposition Conservatives in opinion polls and can count few of its seats as safe.
