Stocks managed slight gains Friday, at the end of a volatile session in which the Dow industrials struggled to move beyond 10,000, following a weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs report for October. U.S. employers cut 190,000 jobs in October, after cutting 219,000 the previous month, the Labor Department reported. The unemployment rate rose to a 26-year high of 10.2 percent from 9.8 percent in September. The U.S. dollar gained versus the euro and fell versus the yen. --More
