Former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga says she is considering entering the race to become the European Union"s first president, according to AP. The 71-year-old Vike-Freiberga says Latvia"s Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis asked her to represent Latvia in the competition for the new post. She told The Associated Press on Thursday that it was too early to tell whether she would officially become a candidate since the rules governing the election were still unclear. Vike-Freiberga was president of Latvia for eight years before stepping down in 2007. --SPA
