Hurricane Rick roared off the coast of Mexico Sunday with forecasters predicting the dangerous Category 5 storm would begin to weaken. Rick is the second-strongest hurricane in the eastern North Pacific Ocean in more than a decade, reported UPI. The "extremely dangerous" storm was about 295 miles south-southeast of Manzanillo Sunday morning with sustained wind speeds of 180 mph, the National Hurricane Center said. Rick churned up dangerous surf as it passed Acapulco late Saturday, but no casualties were reported, authorities said. The storm was expected to weaken as it turned toward southern Baja and then mainland Mexico later in the week, CNN reported. The strongest hurricane in the eastern North Pacific was Hurricane Linda in 1997, which had sustained winds of 185 mph. --SP
