The Ministry of Water and Electricity (MWE) represented by Awareness and Conservation Department will take part in the International Conference on Water Conservation in Arid Regions (ICWCAR 09) organized by Water Researches Center, an affiliate of King Abdulaziz University on October 11-14. The three-day conference themes include water resources in arid regions; domestic water conservation; water conservation in agriculture; Water conservation in industry; Water reuse, New technologies in water conservation; Economics of water conservation and Education, culture and media role in water conservation. MWE's participation is an effective contribution to highlighting the role of awareness and rationing the use of water in combating drought, and strengthening the principle of fruitful and constructive cooperation between the ministry and citizens in the reduction of water excessive consumption. The objective of participating in the event stems from the keenness of the ministry's officials to raise awareness and rationalization of water consumption. It will shed light on the underground water resources which are major sources for the Kingdom to reduce water depletion, said Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Assaud, The Undersecretary of MWE for Planning and Development.
