The Czech Republic may still complete ratification of the EU's Lisbon Treaty this year despite demands by the president to negotiate an exemption from part of the document, Reuters quoted Prime Minister Jan Fischer as saying today. Fischer said the government would discuss President Vaclav Klaus's demand, based on the fear that the treaty could lead to property claims by Germans expelled from Czechoslovakia after World War Two, on Monday. He said that when considering various aspects of the treaty in the past, the government did not find any risk the treaty could make the claims successful.
