A spokesman said that the U.S. military has begun an exercise in the African nation of Gabon with personnel from 25 African countries, AP reported. The exercise is aimed at improving command and control between forces for possible peacekeeping or anti-terrorism missions. Vince Crawley, a spokesman for U.S. Africa Command, told The Associated Press Wednesday that some 200 personnel are participating in the Africa Endeavor exercise. The exercise runs through the first week of October, Crawley said from Africom headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. The U.S. military's Africom was formally activated last October. Before then, U.S. military programs in Africa were split among three other commands.
