After reviewing the reports submitted by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health regarding preparations and plans to combat swine flu epidemic (A - H1 - N1), the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed the Minister of Education, Minister of Health and Minister of Culture and Information to hold a meeting to study reports and latest developments on the beginning of the academic year and to make sure of the completion of preparations for awareness, training and equipment programs for all schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as for coordination with the Ministry of Health to set a reference for each school, the Royal Court said in a statement issued today. In light of the King's keenness on taking all measures that achieve the safety and health of male and female students, the King directed the postponement of studies until Saturday 21 / 10 / 1430H, in general education for intermediate and secondary schools and until Saturday 28 / 10 / 1430H. for kindergartens, primary and special needs schools to complete the training program for the concerned male and female teachers, and for the equipment of schools with all awareness and preventive supplies as recommended by the Scientific Committee for Preventive Medicine, an affiliate of the Ministry of Health along with the participation of physicians from medicine faculties in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia. After reviewing positive reports on the results of preventive vaccine for swine flu (A - H1 - N1), the King directed the Ministry of Health to purchase 6,000,000 additional doses of vaccine for male and female students, and those people most vulnerable to the disease. The King stressed the major role of a family as a partner of health and education ministries for the prevention of this epidemic.
