Slovenia and Croatia are only weeks away from resolving a protracted border dispute that has stalled Croatia's bid to join the European Union, politicians involved in the negotiations said Saturday, according to DPA. "We started very far from each other and ended up a very short distance. I trust that there is now the political will to go the last centimetres," the EU's enlargement commissioner, Olli Rehn, said at an informal meeting of European foreign ministers in Stockholm. Asked when a deal might be struck, Rehn said: "I expect it will be this autumn. But the sooner the better, because we should solve the issue and unblock Croatia's EU accession." The foreign ministers of the two former Yugoslav states made similarly hopeful statements at their arrival in Stockholm. "I believe that Slovenia and Croatia will find a win-win-solution very soon," said Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic.
