Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Dahabi left Amman for Baghdad on Thursday for a brief visit and talks designed to shore up cooperation between the two countries, the Ammon news agency reported, according to dpa. Dahabi is expected to have talks with his Iraqi counterpart, Nuri al-Maliki, and other senior Iraqi officials on ways of promoting bilateral ties, particularly in the economic, political and security spheres, it added. The trip, which has been postponed several times since April, also has the primary aim of ensuring the release of about 50 Jordanians from Iraqi jails. Jordan aspires to restore Iraq's position as the key trade partner of the Hashemite Kingdom and a main oil supplier of the country.
