The Ministry of Interior warned citizens and expatriates against offering transport to Umrah and Hajj performers and visitors of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah to elsewhere in the Kingdom except between Makkah, Jeddah and Medina, it was reported today. In a statement, the Ministry explained that violators of the regulation in the Kingdom will be subject to the following penalties: 1-Anyone who manages to offer transportation to Umrah or Hajj performers, or visitors of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah between the cities of the Saudi Arabia, except between Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah during the validity of their entry permit, will receive a term of imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding 100,000 Saudi riyals or a combination of the two punishments as determined by the Minister of Interior. Multiple fines for multiple persons involved in the violation as well as the confiscation of the means of transport used in the transport are also applicable. 2- Drivers or captains of land and sea travel means arriving in or departing from Saudi Arabia must use entry and exit outlets designated for that purpose by the relevant official authorities and they must take the official roads and tracks leading to each of the assigned outlet, otherwise they will be subject to a term of imprisonment for not less than seven days and not more than thirty months or a fine of not less than 300 Saudi riyals and not more than 25,000 Saudi riyals, or both. -- More
