Air Berlin PLC said Monday that a one-day strike by some of its pilots caused it to cancel several German domestic flights. The Berlin-based airline, Germany's second-largest after Deutsche Lufthansa AG, said pilots at its LTU unit and some pilots at Air Berlin walked off the job early Monday in a dispute over pay. Five domestic flights were canceled and one LTU long-haul flight from Düsseldorf to Hurghada, Egypt, was delayed until after the end of the walkout Monday evening, the company said. Air Berlin says the pilots' union, Cockpit, is seeking an 11.7 percent pay rise, which it says is unrealistic. Air Berlin is offering a 3 percent increase. Shares of Air Berlin were about 4 percent lower at ¤3.76 ($5.38) in Frankfurt morning trading, the Associated Press reported.
