German authorities say they have arrested a former leftist terrorist suspected of involvement in the 1977 slaying of then West German federal prosecutor Siegfried Buback, according to AP. Federal prosecutors said Friday that 57-year-old Verena Becker was detained Thursday at her Berlin home. Prosecutors launched a new investigation into Buback's assassination this year based in part on the analysis of new DNA samples. They believe Becker played a key role in the planning and carrying out of the April 7, 1977, attack that left Buback and two others dead. Becker was a member of the Red Army Faction leftist terrorist group at the time.
