Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was scheduled to meet Monday with key U.S. government officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, ahead of his first White House visit in five years. Egyptian officials told reporters that Mubarak would meet with national security advisor James Jones, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, and representatives from eight U.S. Jewish groups. Mubarak will visit the White House on Tuesday morning for a meeting with President Barack Obama. It will be the third time in three months the two leaders have met. Mubarak's discussions with top Obama administration officials are expected to focus on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Sudan, and Iran's nuclear program, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said. “The visit now comes at a critical time,” Abul Gheit told Al-Ahram newspaper on Saturday, “because the American side is coming closer to announcing its vision on how to achieve peace and end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
