members of the Palestinian Fatah movement based in Gaza completed voting in party elections in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, official sources told dpa. "Fatah congress members based in Gaza finished voting secretly by their own means", the source confirmed after Hamas prevented the 400 Fatah members in Gaza from travelling to attend the party conference in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. Fatah began internal elections Sunday to select a new central committee and a revolutionary council, the movement's highest bodies. Dozens of candidates are contesting 23 seats on the central committee, and hundreds are seeking a place in the 125-seat revolutionary council, Fatah's legislative body. The elections were taking place on the sixth day of the convention where discussions on other issues have delayed the elections.
