The Department of Anti-Commercial Frauds confiscated 30 melamine utensils' samples exhibited in the market for inspection and verification of compliance to the standard specifications of Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization (SSQO). The Department pointed out that after SSQO examining the samples, it proved that the five samples confiscated, were made in china with trade mark of "Najd Al Majd," that contained prohibited Urea Formaldehyde which is a violation of Saudi standards. The Ministry of Trade and Industry has been directing the members of the Department of Anti- commercial frauds in the Kingdom to confiscate the offending brands from suppliers as well as stores that sell household utensils, and to take formal action against importers. The quantities that have been confiscated and destroyed of these brands reached approximately 35,000 pieces so far.
