Ireland has confirmed its first H1N1 influenza death, a young woman, the Department of Health said on Friday. "A young adult female who is a patient of Tallaght Hospital died today from Influenza A (H1N1)," the department said in a statement, regarding the death at the Dublin hospital. "The patient had an underlying medical condition." The World Health Organisation declared an H1N1 influenza epidemic on June 11. The virus has killed more than 800 people worldwide since emerging in April.
