Shafiq Al-Hout, a founding member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), was said to be critically ill in a Lebanese hospital, Palestinian News Agency "Ma'an" reported. Shafiq Al-Hout, a Palestinian writer and politician born in 1932 in Jaffa, is a member of the Palestinian National Council and a PLO Executive Committee representative in Lebanon. He attended the founding ceremony of the Palestinian Liberation Front in 1963 and the PLO's founding conference in Jerusalem in May 1964. He represented the PLO at the United Nations General Assembly since 1974. He has been a member of the PNC and PLO offices in Lebanon, according to a report of the Qatar News Agency (QNA). During the first meeting of the PLO's Executive Committee, Al-Hout was appointed representative and head of office in Lebanon. Following the appointment, he has remained in politics ever since.
