A child-rape suspect beaten by an angry Philadelphia mob last month says he has mental-health issues, according to AP. Jose Carrasquillo disclosed the diagnosis before waiving a preliminary hearing Monday on charges he violently assaulted an 11-year-old schoolgirl. Neither he nor his lawyer disclosed details of the condition. The girl was kidnapped and raped as she walked to school June 1. Police say they have DNA linking Carrasquillo to the crime. Prosecutors believe Carrasquillo also fondled a 16-year-old girl that morning at a bus stop and followed her to school. A group of city residents spotted the 26-year-old suspect the next day and pummeled him before police arrived. A judge on Monday ordered Carrasquillo to stand trial on charges related to both girls.
