Two US soldiers were killed by Taliban militants on Friday in the same region of southern Afghanistan where Afghan and NATO-led forces killed nine insurgents a day earlier, officials said according to dpa. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said the soldiers were killed in a Taliban attack, but did not disclose their nationality. A US military spokesman confirmed they were Americans. The soldiers died a day after another US soldier was killed in the same region by the Taliban. The latest deaths brought to 65 the number of foreign troops killed in July, more than half of them Americans. July has proven to be the deadliest month for US troops since their deployment in Afghanistan late 2001.
