An emergency services official says a train has derailed in southern Croatia and many passengers are injured. Darko Marinkovic, a duty official, told The Associated Press that medical teams are on the scene to treat the «many» injured. He said they were «not certain yet whether there are any deaths.» He says the fast train from the capital of Zagreb to Split, in Croatia's south, derailed Friday at eight minutes past noon (1108 GMT; 7:08 a.m. EDT) in the village of Rudine, some 19 miles (30 kilometers) from its destination. The cause of the accident is not yet known. The train is used by many Croatians traveling to the coast during the summer.
