Ministers of Health of the Mediterranean started here today an extraordinary meeting to discuss the spread of swine flu and measures taken to prevent the epidemic during Islamic gatherings. Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabee'a led Saudi Arabia's delegation to the meeting which was chaired by Yemen's Minister of Public Health and Housing Dr. Abdulkareem Rase'a, who is also the rotating president of the 55th session of the Regional Committee for the Mediterranean member states. During the meeting, the increasing number of swine flu victims as well as the precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of the pandemic during Hajj and Umrah were discussed. The conferees also reviewed the recommendations of Jeddah recently-concluded workshop on ways to cool down the H1N1 - A virus flare-up.
