Southeast Asian countries voiced outrage Saturday over bombings at American luxury hotels in Indonesia's capital that killed eight people and wounded more than 50 others. Suicide bombers posing as guests attacked the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta on Friday. A statement by foreign ministers of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations was issued Saturday ahead of a regional security conference on the Thai southern resort island of Phuket. The foreign ministers «strongly condemn the bombings in Jakarta ... which caused loss of innocent lives and injuries,» the ministers said. «ASEAN stands united with the government and people of Indonesia and remains steadfast in our continued fight against terrorism.» The ministers also said they supported the Indonesian government's effort to «bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice,» according to a report of The Associated Press.
