United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday condemned the killing of a UN employee at a refugee camp in Peshawar, Pakistan, according to dpa. Zile Usman, a Pakistani field worker at the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was shot to death in what appeared to be a botched kidnapping attempt. The attackers also shot and killed a security guard at the refugee camp. "The secretary general strongly condemns this brutal attack on humanitarian personnel who are working for the wellbeing of the Pakistani people," said UN spokeswoman Marie Okabe. "The UN remains committed to continuing humanitarian operations to assist the large number of people in need," she said.
