The Chinese mainland confirmed 42 new cases of A/H1N1 influenza in the 24 hours ending 6 p.m. Saturday, bringing the total to 1002, Xinhua reported. Southern Guangdong Province reported 15 new cases, Beijing confirmed 13 and Shanghai found seven, according to a press release by the Ministry of Health. Fujian Province reported three new cases, Tianjin Municipality and the provinces of Jiangsu, Shandong and Hainan each had one, according to the ministry. Among the flu patients, 720 have been discharged from hospitals, 275 were being treated in hospitals and six patients were receiving medical care at their homes, the ministry noted.
