The works of the 16th Meeting of the OIC Committee for the Coordination of Joint Islamic Action in the field of Da' wa (Call) were concluded at the headquarters of the World Islamic Call Society in the Libyan capital - Tripoli on June 23, according to a press release issued here yesterday by the Organization of Islamic Conference. At the end of the three-day deliberations, the participants of the meeting adopted the report of the Committee's Working Group adopted at its meeting held in Cairo on May 17-18, 2009 and the proposed projects it included, in the framework of the implementation of the Ten-Year Programme of Action endorsed by the Extraordinary Islamic Summit Conference held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 2005. The final report of the meeting called in its recommendations for the necessity to give greater importance to da' wa, cultural and humanitarian action in the African Continent, and to start implementing joint projects under the umbrella of the OIC. The Final Report also called for reinforcing the presence of the Arabic Language in the African Continent, activating its programmes and for providing general support to Muslim communities to enable them to establish educational institutions and preserve their identity. --MORE
