Iraq's Prime Minister has appealed for national unity, The Associated Press reported. The Prime Minister, Nouri Al-Maliki, said a series of bombings in Iraq are aimed at triggering sectarian violence. Meanwhile, the country's Vice President Tariq Al-Hashimi says he is worried about deteriorating security. He called Saturday for people to avoid crowded areas and for Iraqi security forces to beef up their presence in public areas, markets and mosques before the June 30 withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops from major cities.
