UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will attend a meeting of the Middle East diplomatic group known as the Quartet on Friday in Trieste, Italy, the UN said Tuesday. The quartet plans to meet with members of the League of Arab States to discuss their peace initiative, the UN said. The quartet is composed of the United Nations, the European Union, the United States and Russia. The Quartet, which has met regularly to review the situation in the Middle East, has been calling for a two-state solution to settle the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, according to a report of the German News Agency "DPA".
