Ivan Gasparovic has been inaugurated for a second term as Slovakia's president. Gasparovic took the oath of office at Slovakia's parliament on Monday for the largely ceremonial post. He defeated his challenger, Iveta Radicova, in the presidential runoff race on April 4. Radicova had hoped to become Slovakia's first female president. The 68-year-old Gaparovic has become the first president since Slovakia's 1993 independence to be elected for two five-year terms. He was first elected in 2004, according to a report of The Associated Press.
