The tally of people who have fallen sick from an outbreak of swine flu in a school for Japanese children in Dusseldorf rose Saturday to 74, dpa cited city health officials as saying today. They said seven new cases all involved either siblings or classmates of children who had previously fallen sick. Apart from that outbreak, Germany has been barely touched by the new strain of H1N1 virus so far. World Health Organization (WHO) data show a total of 95 people have come down with infections in Germany out of 29,669 worldwide. Although deaths from A(H1N1) are uncommon, WHO has declared the disease a pandemic. Despite concern for families in the Japanese community nursing sick children, an annual Japanese festival went ahead in Dusseldorf Saturday with more than 850 performers demonstrating traditional and contemporary Japanese culture to the city's German residents.
