Twelve Indian construction workers were injured today when a building under construction on the outskirts of the Bahraini capital collapsed, trapping them under the rubble, dpa reported. Fire crews were able to rescue 10 of the workers at the site in Juffair. Co-workers rescued another two. All twelve workers were rushed to a local hospital where they were reported in stable condition. The collapse happened around noon (0900 GMT). Rescuers deployed body-heat sensors, acoustic sensors, and rescue dogs to search the site to ensure that no other workers were trapped in the rubble. More than 40 workers were at the site at the time of the incident. There are an estimated 300,000 Indians living in Bahrain. Some 70,000 of them work in construction.
