A gunman entered Washington D.C.'s Holocaust Museum on Wednesday and shot several people, leaving at least one in critical condition and forcing a massive shutdown in the center of the U.S. capital's tourist zone. Details on the shooter and the shooting itself were initially scarce and divergent. NBC News reported that three people were injured, including the gunman, but a park police spokesman said only two people were injured, including the shooter. Other news reports said a guard at the museum was critically wounded and taken to hospital. The shooter was reportedly also evacuated to the same nearby hospital. NBC news reported that the gunman was James W. Von Brunn, a known white supremacist and anti-Semite who was sentenced to prison time after attempting to perform a “citizen's arrest.” Park police spokesman Sergeant David Schlosser said authorities could not confirm additional details about the shooter, offering only that “at about 10 minutes to one a person entered the Holocaust Museum…and that person was armed with a long gun”
