Police in Bangladesh on Tuesday arrested a former lawmaker for his alleged involvement in the mutiny in late February at the headquarters of the country's border force, the Bangladesh Rifles, in Dhaka, according to dpa. Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was being held on charges of helping the mutineers to flee the during the 33-hour rebellion, said AKM Shahidul Haq, the chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. "Pintu will be handed over to the prime investigating agency for interrogation," he said. The police's Criminal Investigation Department of has been probing the mutiny that left up to 75 people dead, including 57 army officers. Around 3,000 soldiers are being held for their alleged involvement in the mutiny since February, 20 of whom have reportedly died in custody.
