French Prime Minister Francois Fillon is in the Nigerian capital today for talks with leaders of Africa's most-populous nation, accordint to AP. Fillon met with President Umaru Yar'Adua and Vice President Goodluck Jonathan before making a scheduled address at a think tank. Fillon later told reporters that France was Nigeria's second-largest investor after the United States, and he praised Nigeria for contributing to peacekeeping missions across Africa. The prime minister is scheduled on Saturday to visit Port Harcourt, the main oil-industry hub in southern Nigeria. Nigeria is Africa's most-populous nation with 140 million people, the continent's biggest oil producer and a regional diplomatic and military heavyweight.
