Heavy fighting between Somali government forces and Islamist insurgents in the capital Mogadishu today killed at least 45 people and wounded 128, Reuters quoted a local human rights group as saying. It was the highest day's death toll for months. "At least 45 people, including 28 civilians, died in today's fighting," Ali Yasin Gedi, vice-chairman of Elman Peace and Human Rights Organisation, told Reuters.
