Congressman Nancy Pelosi (Democrat from California) joined her colleagues on Wednesday in Washington in announcing that dramatic new health care legislation will be drafted by July. Pelosi and other House Democrats had met with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the Oval Office just before going outside to make the announcement. “We promised him that we will have this important legislation on the floor of the House before the August break,” Pelosi announced. “Our goal is to have a healthier America.” The announcement was void of details. Obama plans to provide health care for 50 million uninsured Americans. He has promised this since the campaign. This plan is expected to cost about $1.5 trillion over 10 years.
