Under the auspices of Princess Hessa Al-Shaalan, the wife of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and in the presence of a number of educational leaders and teachers, the department of Education for Girls in Riyadh marked here today at King Fahd Cultural Center the World Teachers' Day and honored the distinguished female teachers for 2008 / 2009 A.D. The Director of Education in Riyadh region, Dr. Abdulatif Al-Awayn delivered via closed-circuit television a speech welcoming Princess Hessa and the guests, saying "In this great day all educational community is happy while meeting great creative models faithful to their religion and homeland, holding the responsibility and proud of their contributions to the developing of the future of their homeland as educator and teacher of the future generation". On the occasion, other distinguished speakers delivered speeches in which they highlighted the development of education being witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the era of its founder until now where plans are being developed to create a society without illiteracy, encourage students and respect science.
