Chad says soldiers have stopped a column of rebels advancing on the capital, killing 125 of them and capturing 150, AP reported. Rebels, who deny the claim, have been trying for more than three years to overthrow the government. Defense Minister Adoum Younousmi said Friday the rebel column was stopped. Communications Minister Mahamat Hissene provided the number of rebels killed during the battle Thursday in the eastern town of Am Dam. He said those captured include their top commander, But the rebels said they defeated government forces and will soon give more details.
