Kurdish officials say Iranian helicopters have fired on Iranian Kurdish rebel positions in a remote border area of northern Iraq, AP reported. Tehran's military has often fired artillery strikes against the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan, which seeks greater rights for Iran's Kurds. Iran accuses it of launching attacks inside Iran from Iraqi bases. A Kurdish military spokesman says it's the first time Iranian military helicopters have targeted the fighters. Jabbar Yawar says the helicopters didn't violate Iraqi airspace, but attacked while flying parallel to the border Saturday. A Kurdish official says no casualties were reported. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information.
