Canada reported its first confirmed cases of swine flu on Sunday at opposite ends of the country, with two cases in the western province of British Columbia and four in the Atlantic province of Nova Scotia, Reuters reported. Nova Scotia health officials said four cases among students who recently travelled to Mexico had been confirmed with tests at a national lab in Winnipeg. "These cases are mild. No one in Nova Scotia has been hospitalized because of the illness. All those who have been affected are recovering. At this point we're not seeing severe cases like those occuring in Mexico," Dr Robert Strang, chief public health officer for the province of Nova Scotia, told a televised news conference. "It was acquired in Mexico, brought home and spread." A spokesman at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control also told Reuters they had two confirmed cases.
