Egypt's official news agency is reporting that a 33-year-old woman in the Nile Delta region has died of bird flu, the country's 26th death from the virus since 2003, according to AP. The Middle East News Agency says the woman from the Kafr el-Sheikh governorate was admitted to a hospital last week with symptoms of the H5NI strain. That's the strain world health authorities are tracking out of fear it could mutate into a form easily transmitted between people and spark a flu pandemic. Currently the virus is a threat mainly to those who have close contact with poultry. Earlier this week, another woman and a 6-year-old boy in Cairo died of the virus. Women and children in Egypt are especially susceptible because they generally care for domestic fowl.
