Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired today at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh the Cabinet's session. At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the cabinet on the discussions, consultations and meetings he made with some leaders and envoys of world countries focusing on events on various fronts. These included his meeting with Tanzania's President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete who stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields for the benefit of the two countries; the contents of the messages the king sent to Gulf Cooperation Council countries' leaders, and his meeting with U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Moheiaddin Khoja said that on the regional situation, the Cabinet expressed hope that the visit of George Mitchell— the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East— to the region will lay the grounds for reaching a just and comprehensive peace, and considered his tour in the region as emphasis of the U.S. role in the peace process. Dr. Abdulaziz bin Moheiaddin Khoja said the Cabinet listened to a report from the Minister of Finance on the meetings of the Joint Arab Financial Institutions in which ministers of finance and planning and central banks' governors participated. The meetings were held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Wednesday. During the meetings, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated the need for more cooperation among Arab Countries in the economic fields to face the effects of the world financial crisis suffered by Arab economies and to take the appropriate economic measures to boost the capabilities of the Arab financial institutions, Dr. Khojah said. --More
