The Marine Academy of Saudi Aramco has received accreditation from the Ministry of Transport to prepare young Saudis for seafaring careers following International Maritime Organization standards. Approval was received after a visit by ministerial officials, accompanied by a representative of Government Affairs, to evaluate the center's compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-Keeping for Seafarers. After several meetings with department management and discussing the impact the center will have on the company's Saudization efforts, the officials received a briefing on Saudi Aramco's training policy along with Marine training and registration requirements from Captain Turki M. Shehri, supervisor of Marine Training. He discussed the center's ability to provide the necessary theoretical and practical training and to develop the candidates to work onboard various types of Saudi Aramco vessels. --MORE
